NON-1203(B) TAX COMPLIANCE DISCIPLINE

NTEU has settled a long-standing grievance over IRS discipline in tax non-compliance cases not related to the 1998 law provision in Section 1203(b).

IRS to transition from Employee Express to
National Finance Center for payroll processing

Many of you are familiar with the Employee Express system , the online tool allowing you to make payroll system changes, such as state and federal tax withholding.  In a major cost-cutting move, IRS has contracted with the National Finance Center to begin providing these services in the new fiscal year, October 1, 2012.  Click here to read more details of these changes.

HONEY, THEY SHRUNK THE IRS

David Cay Johnston is known as an expert on the IRS.  He wrote an award-winning series in the New York Times about the IRS and tax shenanigans.  He's written books about how the wealthy avoid paying tax on a regular basis.  Now, he works for the Reuters News Service and has written a piece on how the IRS has been impacted by a lack of funding.  It's no surprise to those of us working at IRS, but Mr. Johnston is beginning to show the public how lack of funding IRS is impacting the nation.
